Private Hire Information

 

Somers School Camp is a Department of Education and Early Childhood Development facility that is available for hire by private groups in the school holidays and in between our programmed camps each term.


Situated on the beach at Somers on the Mornington Peninsula, Somers School Camp is set in a beautifully treed environment, with well-maintained facilities.

 

 

Facilities

 

The camp can be hired simply as a venue, which includes the use of the dormitories, kitchen, dining rooms and hall. The other option is to hire the camp including the use of specific activities, which incur a cost per participant.


Somers School Camp can accommodate up to 168 people in bunk style dormitories. Each dormitory includes 20 bunks and one separate supervisor's bedroom, as well as showers and toilets.

Activities

 

Somers School Camp offers an extensive choice of outdoor adventure activities which may be used by private groups at a cost per participant.


For safety, our qualified camp staff will run all outdoor adventure activities. This must be organised at the time of booking.


The table below sets out the costs for activities and staff required to run them.

If required, we can suggest a program of activities for your group to fit your budget.  Some of our activities do not require the expertise of our staff and can be run by the hiring group. These activities will incur a small cost per participant. A list of such activities can be viewed in the table below.

Other Attractions

 

Only a five-minute walk away from Somers School Camp is the historic homestead of Coolart. As well as viewing the homestead itself, visitors can enjoy bird watching at the wetlands and lagoon.


Somers School Camp is fortunate to have direct access to Somers beach and Westernport Bay and the rock pools are only a 20-minute walk along the beach. Swimming, sandcastle making and rock pooling are just some of the things that visitors to Somers enjoy.


A ferry from Stoney Point, which is only 10 minutes away by car, can take you across to Phillip Island, where you can enjoy the Penguin Experience.
